Aaisha and Bishaka.
We the students of St. Xavier College from second-year were placed on an internship with build Nepal since the beginning of October. We were briefed by team members Mr. Souvidhya Manoj and Mr. Rajan Khadka. They provided details about ongoing projects in the social sector.
We as an intern were very keyed up to work with build Nepal in on of the projects i.e. RSN (Responsible Student Network) as we ourselves chose the project which was suitable to us from the beginning. This project was detailed us to help the student of the schools build Nepal partnered with. The first school we were assigned was Prithivi Narayan School (PN) at Goldhunga. PN School was very welcoming since the first meeting with the Principal. We were delegated to rapport building with the school as well as increasing productive activities for the students. We also followed the direction of the school’s wish list about improving student’s handwriting as well as their performance regarding their studies. For a few months, we were very engaged with PN School. In February, we the students of St.Xavier College helped to manage the St. Xavier’s social camp at PN School where the students of +2 from St. Xavier’s college were camping for 1 night and 2 days. It was a very encouraging camp where every student and teacher erudite about community organization and development as well as group work, the coordination and punctuality were so elegant.
After the camp,we were now assigned to initiate RSN in 5 other schools. Bishaka was entrusted with PN School and I was entrusted with Srijana Gyansagar School as also other interns with their respective schools. This was a great platform for us as well; to coordinate and conduct plans with the school to initiate RSN project. As soon as this plan was taking up its pace of signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU), a disastrous earthquake strikes Nepal. For a few days all the programs were at a stop. Then earthquake relief programs were initiated by NK 2020 team with the North Kathmandu and RSN also helped. We were assigned to help the people in need. The RSN team also added up another program for earthquake relief at the schools which RSN was partnered with.
The program called “Post Earthquake Entertainment Program” was conducted. We the students of St.Xavier College started with PN School and then with Sunflower school. This was a challenging program for us as people were still under traumatized of the disastrous earthquake. These certain projects were handled by us with the guidance of our team leaders and communicator and other Interns. The experience of our journey with build Nepal and North Kathmandu was enlightening as well as resourceful. We came across various learning that we can apply in our further studies as well as the project. We thank the team of build Nepal and North Kathmandu for supporting us and encouraging us to do a fine task.
