As a part of their community service efforts, A-Level students of St. Xavier’s College visited Kali Devi School of Kavresthali VDC of North Kathmandu. The camp extended from 25th November 2014- 30th November 2014. 120 students along with four teachers stayed in both the buildings of Kali Devi higher secondary school.
The highlights of the camp:
- The students cooked their food for their own, with the help of a cook
- They had their own foodstuff and other requirements.
- All the works were done by several groups already divided
- They whitewashed the school, cleaned the ground, moved around 2000 sac of the earth for filling a ditch
- They wrote alphabets and draw pictures in order to decorate the classroom walls
- They also did art on the four walls of a new administrative building in the school
- They worked for the maintenance of the road that leads to Kalidevi School
- They also cleaned, painted and beautified the temple at Kavresthali Bus-stop.
The works done were extensively meant for community service purpose. The students learned to empathize with laborers as they experienced their life for a couple of days.
It was good to have support from local and concern authority.
