Dhorpatan Township initiator, Ganesh Thapa facilitated a consultation meet at Taman Khola where 29 local leaders from 4 V.D.C’s i.e Khunga, Taman, Bongadovan & BongKhani participated in the event. Representatives from buildNepal Souvidhya, Dilip, Rajan, and Ananda also joined the meeting
Souvidhya & Dilip shared the experiences and ongoing projects of buildNepal i.e. Responsible Student’s Network, MBA Entrepreneurship Fellowship Program, and Public Library. They also shared about the status update of the Dhorpatan Goat farm as one of the building block of Dhorpatan Township.
Participants of the program appreciated the idea of unity in community and integrated bottom-up approach of development. Also, they show their enthusiasm for the development approach by utilizing local resources. The participants raised the concern about. the introduction of modern technologies in agriculture and facilitation. In addition to that participants emphasized about access to the market to sell the produced agricultural goods as one of the concerns.
After a rigorous discussion, participants identified 9 pillars as the pillars of community development. The identified pillars are as follows:
- Education
- Health
- Agriculture
- Environment
- Information Flow (Access to information)
- Tourism
- Entrepreneurship
- Culture
- Market Management
An ad hoc team is formed based on those 9 pillars. The ad hoc team also suggested conducting the baseline survey to know about the current socio-economic status of the beneficiary communities. Thus a baseline survey form is supposed to be designed and distributed to all the 36 wards of the representatives VDC’s. This formed ad hoc team will be leading the concept of Dhorpatan Township and implement it in TamanKhola which represents 4 representative VDCs.
