Nk2020 Initiated

NK2020 is a momentum initiated to engage the youths to harness 160,000 hours of volunteerism in North Kathmandu within 2020 A.D. We will achieve that number of hours by forming local teams and motivating locals towards social responsibility. The project ignited formally after the devastating earthquakes.

After the earthquake, the NK2020 team mobilized volunteers at North Kathmandu for a relief and reconstruction task force. Every day we mobilized 20-30 volunteers for various works to help victims of the earthquake. Here are some of the tasks done by NK 2020 after the earthquake:

  1. Release basic supplies such as food, utensils, etc, in order to help locals trapped by destroyed houses at Kumaltar, Chogaun, Dhital Thok, and Dahal Thok.
  2. Fumigation at Kumaltar, Phuyalthok, Dahal Thok, and Neupane Thok.
  3. Build temporary toilets at Kumaltar.
  4. Distribute relief materials to Dahal Thok and Purano Guheswori in collaboration with various organizations.
  5. Repair damaged water pipes due to an earthquake at Dahal Thok.
